'I' to be released on Jan 9

Though it is slated to be a Pongal release, Shankar's 'I', starring Vikram in the lead, will hit the screens much ahead of the harvest festival, as plans are on to release it on January 9.

Confirming this, cinematographer P C Sreeram posted on his online page: "9th January 2015 we all be blessed with "I", A red letter day for Indian cinema."

Produced by Aascar Ravichandran, 'I' is expected to hit more than 3,000 screens worldwide. Amy Jackson is the heroine, while A R Rahman has composed music.
