In an exclusive interview to the Indiaglitz, Sharath who ha scripted and currently directing Ko 2` said that he did not intend to make a sequel to the 2011 blockbuster film but it was only the producer who suggested the idea.

“I took a line and made it as a package of political and social issues relevant to Tamil Nadu. When I narrated this concept to the producer Elred Kumar he felt that the concept relates well to Ko` and asked whether it is okay for me if the film is titled as Ko 2. Minor finishing touches were given to the script once it was decided that this will be Ko 2”

He further said that the film`s storyline is entirely different from Ko`. “Its basically something like Ko but not Ko. I will not call my film a sequel to Ko but it is just a Part 2. Ko is a franchise like Billa.”

Sharath promised that this will be an out and out commercial, political thriller and does.

Regarding the status of the film he said “I have completed 40% of the shoot and will be continuously shooting the remaining parts and finish it based on the availability of actors` dates”

Ko` had music by the experienced Harris Jayaraj while this film`s musical score is done by a newcomer. Ask this to Sharath, he says, “Ko is also a musical blockbuster. Music director Leon James is highly talented and you have watched that in the motion poster that has released today. I hope he will match the expectations.”

Sharath has worked as a cinematographer in two films while K.V.Anand the director of Ko` was also a noted cinematographer until he wore the director`s hat. Calling it a “sheer coincidence”, he said “Producer Kumar did not plan to deploy cinematographer-turned directors to helm Ko and Ko 2. He in fact did not know that I have worked as a cinematographer, until we started the film”.

About the film`s hero Bobby Simha who has been doing different characters in every film he said “He is not an actor who sticks to the same type of character. In this film he is doing a character which is jolly going at the same time responsible. For the first time you will see him as a romantic hero, but also a role that will suit him.”

The film also has Prakash Raj in a prominent role who is considered to give a tough time for directors to get work done. The young director refutes this as a myth. “These comments are passed by those who have not worked with him, keeping something else in mind. Of course, the director is the captain of the ship. but Prakash Raj is an experienced actor and has a different style of work. If you want himj to act in a character you have to go with his terms. He is a fantastic actor and very understanding. He will ask for corrections and check whether retake was necessary. He is also very friendly and calls me for lunch and took me to his farm house.”

Here comes the most interesting part. Sharath has co-written Billa II` directed by Chakri Toletti with Ajith in the lead role. Sharath claims to have spent one and a half years close to Ajith while working on that film.

Speaking about Ajith, Sharath says “Sweet heart is not a word enough to describe Ajith. He is a simple man who gives respect to each and every person and he sees himself in others. I carry many fond memories of working with him for one and half years., visiting his home and tasting the food cooked by him. He has also presented gifts for my son and daughter.”

He also recounted two gestures of Ajith that made him different from every other person. “I could not start with the Billa II crew to Georgia shooting schedule and I had to start a day later. After knowing this, Ajith spoke with the producer and opted to travel with me. In the Airport immigration officers offered to let him surpass the queue. He, however, insisted on waiting for 45 minutes in the queue. He also kept patiently answering the questions posed by people around. While I got irritated and shouted at some of them, he pacified me. We had to stay in Dubai for six hours of layover. While I said I will go for shopping and asked Ajith to stay in his room, he gave me a room key for which he would have paid around R.13,000 and asked me to take rest in that room. Its not about money, its about the mindset he has for the person with him.”

Sharath also said that Ajith fans visited the shooting spot of Ko 2` and asked him to make a film with Ajith.

After Ko 2. will it be an Ajith film for this promising youngster? We will have to wait and watch.
