The Indian Council of Medical Research on Thursday revealed the results of Part-I of serosurvey results conducted in 83 districts to study the prevalence of Covid-19.

As per the survey, nearly 0.73% of the tested population had been infected with COVID-19 in the past (before May 20). "Of the 83 districts, 15 had no cases of COVID-19, 22 had low number of COVID-19 cases, 16 had medium exposure and 18 were high-risk districts," says CNBCTV18 report, quoting the survey.

The risk of people getting infected with COVID-19 in urban slums was 1.89 times higher than the rural areas. On the other hand, "the risk in other urban areas was 1.09 times higher compared to rural areas," quotes Hindustan Times.

The infection fatality rate is at 0.08%, which is quite low.

India, the Health Ministry today said, is still not in the community transmission stage. India's recovery rate is 49.21%.
