A UTV Motion Pictures presentation, and a Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar production, `2 States' has been directed by Abhishek Varman. For the records, Abhishek is the son of ace art director R. Verman. He had worked earlier with Karan Johar in `My Name Is Khan' as well as the creative director of `Student Of The Year'.
Based on Chetan Bhagat's best-selling novel `2 States', the film's story is inspired by the real life of the writer and his wife Anusha.
Following the book, the film is about a love story of a north Indian boy Krrish Malhotra played by Arjun Kapoor and a south Indian girl Ananya Swaminathan by Alia Bhatt. Coming from culturally two different backgrounds, the couple face difficulties in convincing their parents to approve of their marriage. How they overcome the ups and downs before getting happily married - forms the crux of the story.
Krrish's Punjabi family has Amrita Singh and Ronit Roy as parents while Ananya has Revathi and Ankit Chitral as the Tamilian parivar.
The film is for all kind of audience as the film balances between the youth and the family audience.
The story is done by the noted writer along with Sreerag Nambiar. The music is by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
`2 States' is slated to release on big screens on 18th April 2014.
