Today is the birthday of G.V.Prakash Kumar who is one of the top music directors of Kollywood who has also emerged as a leading hero.

Hailing from the family of Isaipuyal A.R.Rahman, GV has carved a niche for himself as a music director who could give soulful melodies, fast beat dance numbers in both folk and western versions. He has proved his versatility as a music director by working in various genres of films and giving super hit tunes as well as apt and memorable background score. His teaming up with acclaimed directors Selvaraghavan ('Aayirathil Oruvan' and 'Mayakkam Enna', 'Vetrimaran ('Polladhavan', Aadukalam' and 'Visaranai), Vijay (all the films until 'Saivam'), Atlee ('Raja Rani' and ;Theri) and Vasantha Balan ('Angadi Theru) have proved to be extremely successful. He has also worked in many low budget non-star films and elevated their prospects, the latest example is ;Lens'.

As a hero, GVP is getting mastered in the talents requried for a commercial hero in film after film. His next release will be 'Semma' produced by Pandiraj. Apart from that there are a handful film which are in various stages of production. The list includes 'Adangathey', '4G', 'Ayngaran', 'Kuppathu Raja' and to top it all,'Nachiyaar' directed by Bala. He is also expected to start shooting for director Rajeev Menon's 'Sarvam Thala Mayam' which will have A.R.Rahman's music score.

Apart from being a popular music director, singer and actor, GV is actively involved in promoting the Tamil cause and his activism towards the welfare of Tamil people, the age old culture and tradition is well known. He was one of the very few film celebrities who were vehemently campaigning for lifting the ban on Jallikattu, the traditional bull-taming sport of Tamils. He also actively supported and participated in the protests for the same.

GV Prakash also supported farmers in their struggle against the Hydrocarbon extraction project in Neduvasal, He keeps involving himself in activities of common good for Tamil which is a inspirational trait as a celebrity.
