Ahimsa Review

Ahimsa marks the movie debut of the Daggubati scion, Abhiram Daggubatin into films. The film which has been directed by Teja has been released today. Let's see how the film is.

Story:

Raghu(Abhiram Daggubati) and Ahalya(Geetika) are cousins who get engaged. But in a tragic turnaround of events, Ahalya gets raped. Raghu, who is an innocent youth files a case but he loses out in the court as everyone turns against him. Left with no choice, he takes revenge on the culprits in his own style. Well, how does he do that is the story of Ahimsa.

Analysis:

Ahimsa marks the debut of Abhiram Daggubati in films. Teja has launched him with a love story set in a rural backdrop. It has been quite some time since Teja has given a big hit in his career and his flop streak continues with Ahimsa as well. The film is an outdated love story that has nothing new to showcase apart from some good melodies composed by RP Patnaik.

By looking at Ahimsa, one would get an idea that Teja is stuck in the early years and narrates the film in his old-school style. But times have changed and the manner in which revenge is showcased has also changed. Ahimsa has so many boring scenes that it is very hard to take count. The love story is one of the most boring factors in the film and is beaten to death.

The production values are okay and so were the Teja mark dialogues. The visuals are neat but the editing is pathetic as close to half an hour of the film could have been chopped off. Teja makes sure that the scenes do not create much impact as his conflict is so weak and there is nothing that draws the attention of the audience.

Abhiram Daggubati makes a passable debut but looks a misfit in many of the intense scenes. Heroine Geetika is okay but does not create any impact that Teja's heroines used to do. The performances are weak and the main lead tries hard to make an impact. Such is the situation of the film as it is an Ahimsa on the audience in the first place.

Verdict:

On the whole, Ahimsa is a very outdated, boring and beaten to death film that has been made multiple times before. There is nothing that film conveys and upon this, the debutantes are not worthy to pull off a sincere performance making this film quite bland.
