Ajay Devgan shares his two cents on Bollywoods remake culture

These days there are several debates and discussions going on in Bollywood regarding its competition with Southern cinema and its remake culture. Bollywood is infamous for reproducing blockbuster South movies in order to make quick money on the box office and several stars and fans find it quite problematic. However, there are some who promote remakes and see nothing wrong with them.

Ajay Devgan certainly belong to the second category. In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, he shared that Bollywood and southern film industries should all be viewed collectively as Indian Film Industry. "There’s nothing south or north. It’s the Indian film industry. They are also doing the same thing, we are also doing the same thing," he stated.

Coming to the topic of remakes, Ajay said, "Nahi abhi bhi dono cheezein ho rhai hai, humari filmein bhi unke yaha ban rahi hai. Ab Dheere Dheere I think agar language ka barrier nahi rahega to aap apni filmein waha release kar sakte ho aur unki filmein yaha release ho sakti hai.”

This doesn't come as a surprise considering that some of Ajay's most iconic films happen to be remakes of Telugu or Malayalam films and he'll soon be seen in the Hindi adaptation of Mohanlal's 'Drishyam 2'.
