Airlift has taken a flying start at the Box Office. It was always on the cards that the Akshay Kumar starrer would open better than Baby [9.33 crore] which belonged to the same genre and had released last year in the same weekend. However, for the film to take a 12.35 crore is even better.

It was pretty much certain that at the big cities, the film would indeed do quite well. However, what has worked in the favor of this Raja Menon directed film is that it has done well outside the big cities and multiplexes as well. For a film to gain collections of over 10 crore, it is pretty much required that other centers support it as well, and this is something that has happened.

It has to be added that Akshay Kumar's credibility as an actor who can be relied upon to deliver consistently well has gone in the favor of the film as well. There is certain trust factor that has been built for Akshay and the fact that the film is quite well made has further ensured that the critical acclaim and word of mouth was fantastic. It was mentioned last week that the film is arriving with all around positivity and this has been further reaffirmed with the kind of growth that Airlift experienced with every passing show.

The film has opened even better this morning which means the film is set for a very good total today as well. Moreover, with tomorrow being Sunday, this T-Series, Vikram Malhotra and Nikhhil Advani film is all set for a bountiful weekend. Last year, Baby had taken an opening weekend of 36.07 crore and Airlift is now set to surpass it comfortably by being in the vicinity of 40 crore.

Achche din aa gaye!

Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
