Amudhae, reminding us of films like Mouna Ragam and Andha Ezhu Naatkal, is all about a lover duo who are separated after (their respective) marriages, vowing to reunite after getting divorce from their partners.

Even though director Ezhil has tried to add pep in the screenplay, but for Prakashraj, an amateur performance and predictable sequences in the second half make the movie pedestrian.

Jay Akash stands rock solid even in emotive scenes and he lacks the mobile skills to perform in such scenes, while Madhumitha, who displayed her best in Kudaikul Mazhai, has rendered a decent job.

However, walking away with all honours is Prakashraj, who plays Madhumitha's gentle husband (quite typical to Mohan in Mouna Ragam). Be it his mannerisms or dialogue delivery, Prakashraj stands apart.

The movie is all about Jay (Jay Akash) and Nancy (Madhumitha), a couple in love who decide to marry. However their parents come in between. They threaten their children and emotionally blackmail them.

They then decide to get married according to their parents' wish. Their plan is to get divorce from their respective partners and get married after a year.

Nancy marries Victor (Prakashraj) while Jay marries Selvi (Kadal Pookal Uma). Do they succeed in coming together again forms the rest of the story. The interplay of marriage sentiments is cloying and cliched.

Dhamu, Delhi Ganesh, Santhana Bharathy and Fathima Babu are also in the cast.

Debutant Sunil has scored music and a couple of songs are pleasant to hear. Ezhil, who is making a comeback with Amudhae, shows some spark.

On the whole, it is patchy.
