Immediately following the recent super hit run of 'Cycle', another film with youngsters in the lead is trying to make it good at the box office. Anthiponvettam, poised to reach the release centers this month, has a pretty fresh list of technicians and cast lines, in its credit list. Directed by debutante A V Narayanan and cinematographed by M H Ramachandra, both the products of Pune film institute, the film is trying to present  a new and different plot, in  different narrative styles .

The movie tells the story of Jeevan and Nidhin- Two youngsters who is celebrating their life in the cities. Even though both have good income and lead a luxuriant life, both are very different in their outlook and their temperament. Nidhin, who is a half Gujarati, is a brainy pal, who doesn't believe in the strength of relationships. He had seen his ever busy parents only at airports, when they scheduled few hours to meet their son. But Jeevan on the other hand was, born and brought up in a traditional village, enjoying every finer aspects of village life. And naturally, he was just the opposite of what Nidhin have been

Both of them shared a friendship that was a bit possessive. And on a long holiday, Jeevan brought Nidhin to his village, one about which he had described more than often. Nidhin expected much about the life and experiences there, that he never got a chance to enjoy. Were they back into the same kind of agriculturally dependent, village with innocent people, they always cherished and related in their talks and dreams? The film passes some serious thoughts about the latest concepts and effects of globalization and how a serene village is trapped in its effects.

The story and screenplay of the film is done  by director A V Narayanan, in association with Psychiatrist, Dr S P Ramesh( who had been the screenplay writer of famous films like Aravindan's `Pokkuveyil' and Rajeev Vijayarghavan's `Margam').The film skillfully presents a lot of prototypes and representative characters from a typical Kerala village, which includes Keluji,   who runs a classical dances training institute in the village, a Master who is vibrant peer group leader  of the village folk ,and Senguare who is also a noted figure in the village famous for his ecotourism and Ayurveda initiatives. Remya Nambeeshan plays Vanitha, the female lead of the film, a young lady who is fiercely resisting the changes that is destroying the purity of her quiet hamlet.

Featuring Arun and Saiju Kurup, as Jeevan and Nidhin, the film has a good cast of experienced actors Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudy Venu, Jagadheesh, N L Balakrishnan, T P Madhavan, Bindhu Vaarapuzha  and Lekshmy Gopalaswamy. 'Anthiponvettam' also features five songs written by Dr S P Ramesh and set to music by M Jayachandran. The songs which are already in charts are sung by Jassie Gift, Sudeep Kumar, Suneethy Chaouhan, Krishna Kumar and Vineeth Sreenivasan. Mahesh Narayanan does the editing of the film while Gokul Das handles the art direction. Produced in the banner of Cinema NSR Combines by N Siva Rao and associates, the film is shot mostly at Ottappalam and surrounding areas. The film's box office run is crucial in the careers of the young actors in the lead, who are craving for a big hit to sustain their positions in the industry.
