Tamil Nadu chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami has stated that he was still waiting for an appointment to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the issue of setting up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

In its February 16 verdict, the Supreme Court directed the Centre to set up a Cauvery Management Board (CMB) to ensure fair distribution of Cauvery water among the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.  Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a resolution urging the Centre to set up a CMB.  The chief-minister also penned a letter to the Prime Minister seeking an appointment with him.

Chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami attended an event held at Salem’s Anna Park wherein he laid the foundation stone to bring up a Memorial for late AIADMK leaders MGR and Jayalalithaa.  The proposed structures would be erected at an area of 2100 square feet and at a cost of Rs.80 lakhs.

Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the event, the chief-minister said that he was still awaiting a reply from the Prime Minister for his letter seeking an appointment to meet him.  “Centre hasn’t implemented the Supreme Court’s verdict in the issue of setting up a CMB; we are waiting for the apex Court’s response to our review petition.  We await something good from the Court’s proceedings on 03rd May,” he concluded.
