The legend of literature, famous actor, director on stage and cinema in India Dr Girish Karnad gets the famous 2017 Tata Lifetime achievement award for his theatre work.

The 79 years of age Dr Girish Karnad is bestowed with Gnanapith Award long ago and this Tata award is in recognition of stage plays of Dr Karnad. In the literature festival at Mumbai National Center for the Performing arts the award will be given to Dr Karnad on November 19.

The theatre play journey of Dr Karnad started from ‘Yayathi’ in 1961. Tuglaq, Hayavadhana, Nagamandala, Tale Danda were some of the finest plays that even got him Padmasri and Padma Bhushan awards.

In the film circles Dr Karnad is an epoch making director and actor. He has been part of many dignified roles in Indian language films.
