Balaji Motion Pictures has joined hands with MSM Motion Pictures for AZHAR-- on the life and times of one of India's best and unarguably the most controversial cricket captains, Azharuddin. Top lined by Emraan Hashmi, AZHAR will be directed by Tony D'Souza and has been scripted by Rajat Aroraa.

Chronicling a life riddled with massive ups and downs, AZHAR is an irrepressible story of a cricketing hero, in all his glory and shame. Needless to say then, the makers have zeroed in on the Extraaa Innings of IPL Finale of 2015, to launch the teaser of the film. It's for the first time that a special teaser has been shot before the commencement of shoot.

Balaj Motion Pictures, which has had a dream run at the Box Office with 'Ek Villain', 'Main Tera Hero', 'Ragini MMS-2' & 'The Dirty Picture', is bullish on the film. Sameer Nair, Group CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures adds, "AZHAR marries two of India's greatest passions - Cricket and Films. The collaboration with MSM Motiton Pictures, further strengthens the pitch we're playing on. Both studios will bring their strengths to the fore and play this film on a front foot".

Echoing the sentiment, Sneha Rajani, Dy. President and Head, MSM Motion Pictures adds, "We are grateful to the audiences for making Piku one of the biggest worldwide hits of 2015.We have backed AZHAR because just like 'Piku', it is a story that is waiting to be told. We are partnering with Balaji Motion Pictures because they too have a history of backing content led yet entertaining cinema. Together, we are looking forward to bringing AZHAR to the audiences in 2016".

AZHAR is slated for a worldwide release on May 13th, 2016.
