Expectations

Nawazuddin Siddiqui started his career by doing many blink and miss type of roles. After a long struggle, he finally managed to get his right place in film industry. Though, his small budget films failed to get registered but most of his big budget films where he was seen in character roles managed to hit the right chord.

The popularity also fetched him few medium grade films with a lead role. Though, none of these films got him glory. But, his latest film 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' is in news due to its sexual content, censor issues and other stuffs. Thus, the expectation level are high and has a good amount of curiosity attached to it.

Story

'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' is set in the lawless heartland of India. Babu Bihari (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is a political contract killer. Babu falls in love with Phulwa (Bidita Bag) and helps her avenge the killing of her rapist. One of his old allies Dubey (Anil George) assigns Babu a fresh contract to eliminate top guys from the political camp of Sumitra (Divya Dutta). Babu considers Sumitra as his elder sister, thus Dubey also assigns a new shooter Banke Bihari (Jatin Goswami) for the same job. Banke introduces himself as a fan of Babu, but at the same time also want to overpower him by fulfilling his assignment. This leads to a strange competition between Babu and Banke, leading to a series of political happenings.

The 'Glitz' Factor

'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' has its moments of originality in terms of its quirky humor in the initial part of the film followed by the fantastic characterization of Nawazuddin Siddiqui. There are few highly interesting scenes in the first half which manage to keep you intrigued in the film.

The cinematography is average and goes fine with the flow of the film. The music is average, mainly due to 'Barfani' and 'Khaali Khaali'. The background music is decent and goes well with the flow of the film. The humour in the initial part sets the right base for such movies.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is superb in his part and has managed to do his part with total grace. Jatin Goswami is fine in his strong role. Bhagwan Tiwari and Divya Dutta lends good support.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The second half fails to enhance or even keeps it intact with the first half of the film. The movie goes on a downfall with back to back inconsistent screenplay, shoddy editing and forced twist and turns. The sexual scenes are cheaply presented only to titillate the audience.

The logic and soul is nowhere to be found in the second half, where mindless drama, action and sex part keeps popping up at various intervals. Editing is weak, especially in the second half of the film. 'Ghungta', 'Aye Saiyan' and 'Chulbuli' fails to register.

Director Kushan Nandy tries to make a raw crime drama which, if had a better screenplay might have managed to create the right wonders. Sadly, the inconsistent screenplay, forced sexual tone and weak editing ruin the movie to its worst. Except Nawazuddin, everything else looked fake and forced in the film.

Bidita Bag is at her worst. Anil George, Shraddha Das and Murli Sharma are wasted.

Final 'Glitz'

'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' misfires and fail to reach its aimed target. Though, Nawazuddin's performance is of top notch and the movie deserves a onetime watch for all Nawazuddin's die-hard fans.
