Few days back, it was announced that the Jyothika starrer Ponmagal Vandhaal directed by debutant JJ Frederick and produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment will be released directly on Amazon prime and will not be released in theatres.

With the movie expected to stream from May first week, now the Tamil Nadu theatre owners association has strongly opposed this move and the association's general secretary Panneerselvam has released a new video on the decision to not release Suriya movies in theatres.

In the video, Panneerselvam has said that movies made for theatres must not release in any other platforms and must first hit theatres, and condemned Suriya's 2D entertainment for releasing Ponmagal Vandhaal directly on Amazon prime. He has said that the producer hasn't responded to their demand on not releasing in OTT platform and hence future movies from 2D Entertainment as well as movies involving Suriya will not be screened in theatres. This announcement which states that theatre owners have decided to boycott all movies involving Suriya means that the release of movies like Soorarai Pottru as well as movies from Dream warrior pictures are in trouble.
