It has been made official that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has accepted the resignation of its chief executive officer (CEO) Rahul Johri and that has was asked to leave office with immediate effect.

It must be noted that Johri had given his resignation notification to BCCI secretary Jay Shah before few months ago and as per reports his tenure was to end by April, with the board planning to give an extension.

Rahul Johri was BCCI’s first CEO, who got appointed in 2016. As said by a BCCI official, Rahul Johri's resignation was accepted yesterday, and this delay in accepting the decision was due to Covid-19, as BCCI felt it would be tough for him to find a job during crisis. Now, the board has released him with immediate effect. Currently BCCI is working without a chief financial officer (CFO) after the resignation of previous CFO Santosh Rangnekar.
