Bollywood applauds BCCI for this progressive decision

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently took a step to increase pay parity among male and female cricketers. It was announced that memebers of men's as well as women's international cricket teams will recieve same amount as match fees and several Bollywood celebs have applauded this decision.

On Thursday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted, "I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Cricket."

Soon after this, actress Taapsee Pannu, who portrayed cricketer Mithali Raj in her last film, tweeted, “A huge step towards equal pay for equal work. Thank you BCCI for leading with example.” Shahrukh Khan also took to Twitter and wrote, "What a good front foot shot. Sports being such an equaliser ( in more ways than one ) hoping it will pave the way for others to follow."

Anushka Sharma, who is gearing up to portray cricketer Jhulan Goswami in her next film also took to her Instagram stories to share this news and applauded the decision.
