GSLVMkIII-M1 lifts-off from Sriharikota carrying Chandrayaan-2, ISRO announced sometime back, breaking the news that will make the country very proud today. "GSLVMkIII-M1 successfully injects #Chandrayaan2 spacecraft into Earth Orbit," it further said, offering the nation a glimpse into the historic moment.
As the history was made at Sriharikota, visuals of the Indian Space Research Organisation Chief K Sivan and other scientists celebrating the spectacular achievement flooded the Internet and made a splash on TV sets across the country.
The project has cost India Rs 978 Cr. The launcher of the Chandrayaan-2 reportedly measures 44 metres in height. Its nickname is Baahubali.
