Director Cheran has been one of the most celebrated directors of the industry, and is known for his hard-hitting and unique themes in movies like Porkalam, Bharathi Kannamma, Vetri Kodi Kattu,Thavamai Thavamirundhu and commercially successful movies like Autograph.

The director, who had last had a release in the form of C2H movie JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai starring Sharwanand and Nithya Menen, is all to make a return with his upcoming film Thirumanam, starring Umapathy, Kavya Suresh, Sukanya, Thambi Ramaiah, MS Baskar, and himself, and the movie is gearing up for a February end release.

In a recent media interaction, when questioned on why he never got to work with top heroes, the director revealed that Vijay was ready to act in Autograph, but since he could not allocate bulk dates and could give only 10 days per month, Cheran himself acted in the movie, and later Vijay had felt for missing the movie after watching it. Vijay later also got Cheran the advance to direct him again, but as Cheran was occupied with Thavamai Thavamirundhu, he could not direct Vijay. On the other hand, since he was completely focused on social message oriented themes, he could not make a script for Supersatar Rajnikanth, revealed the director.
