Chinmayi takes the attack to Kamal Haasan

Chinmayi is one of the few celebrities who relentlessly advocates the Me Too movement in South Indian cinema and uses her social media platforms to share abuse stories of victims. Its been more than a year since she raised allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu of molesting her when she was a teenager. The talented singer has slammed Kamal Haasan for inviting Vairamuthu to the inauguration of his new Raj Kamal Films International office in Chennai. Rajinikanth and Mani Ratnam were also among the celebrity guests in event.

Chinmayi has written "MeToo has ruined the lives of the men accused of sexual harassment (FYI - I am referring to Vairamuthu here)The constant comment is accusing a man of molesting will ruin his life and career. And he can’t show his face outside. Vairamuthu has been a chief guest at multiple DMK events, IAS officer training academy events, Tamizh Language events, book launches and Industry events in this entire year. Nothing has happened to him. I was banned almost immediately. Justice meted out by the Tamilnadu Film Industry’s biggies :) Party with the known molester ban the accuser :) (sic)"

Netizens have come out in support of Chinmayi on her timeline and have severely criticized Kamal, Rajini and Mani Ratnam for associating with Vairamuthu.
