Chiranjeevis heroine Rachana Bannerjee to contest elections

Rachna Banerjee, an Indian actress, entrepreneur, and television presenter, is renowned for her contributions to Bengali and Odia cinema, along with appearances in select Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films. Crowned Miss Kolkata in 1994, she has also clinched five beauty titles in India, including Miss Beautiful Smile at the Miss India pageant.

Her notable filmography includes a memorable role alongside Amitabh Bachchan in the iconic movie "Sooryavansham." Rachna has acted in 35 Bengali films, often sharing the screen with her favorite actor, Prosenjit Chatterjee. She also starred in the Telugu film "Bavagaru Bagunnaara" alongside Mega Star Chiranjeevi.

Recent reports suggest that Rachna Banerjee, the presenter of "Didi No. 1," is likely to contest in the upcoming Parliament Election as a candidate for the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Speculations are rife about her potential candidacy from either East Midnapore or Kanthi.

Rachna's meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her appearance on "Didi No. 1" fueled further speculation, leading many to believe that she might secure the TMC ticket. Reports indicate that Rachna could contest in Subhendu Adhikary's constituency.

The TMC has reportedly earmarked a significant role for Rachna, initially considering her for the Tamluk seat. However, following Justice Abhijit Ganguly's resignation, the Tamluk candidacy might change hands, potentially paving the way for Rachna to contest from Sisir Adikary's Kanthi seat, where Soumendu Adhikary is the BJP candidate.

Despite the speculation, Rachna has stated that nothing is finalized yet, emphasizing that if she were to contest, it would be at the discretion of CM Mamata Banerjee. She clarified that her visit to Nabanna was unrelated to election plans but rather to invite Mamata to "Didi No. 1."

During Mamata Banerjee's appearance as a special guest on "Didi No. 1," Rachna had a warm conversation with her, highlighting the camaraderie shared between them.
