Controversial actor's film works despite doubts

'Ramaleela', starring Malayalam actor Dileep, the accused in the molestation of an actress, released recently amid lingering doubts. There were calls for its boycott, much as some sections of citizens had called for the boycott of some of Sanjay Dutt's movies in the past.

The film is doing well at the box office. In a curious case, it draws parallels to Dileep's real life as the protagonist in the film is also accused of murder and how he wriggles out of his predicament. The much renowned actor who is known for his light hearted comedies has excelled in a serious role and the director Arun Gopi has kept the screenplay tight to make for an engaging film.
