'Sharanam Gachchami', the less-known film, recently saw a controversy when the CBFC in Hyderabad refused to clear it on the grounds that the film was "likely to disturb public peace", as quoted by a newspaper. Directed by Enumula Prem Raj, the film drew support from a students wing of Osmania University, half a dozen of whose members reportedly vandalized the regional office of CBFC because the film was not being certified!

After it was refused certification, the filmmakers took recourse to a review by a Revising Committee. The same has now certified it with U/A.

Its subject revolves around the discrimination that Dalits face in several walks of life. From what has been reported, 'SG' makes references to certain real-life events which have been hotly debated in recent times.
