With 31 people testing positive today has seen a sharp decrease in Tamil Nadu compared to the past few days when the numbers were in excess of 100. Out of the new patients, 21 are from the single source event, one with travel history between states and the rest are contacts of existing patients. 69 patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection have been tested for COVID 19 in the last 24 hours throughout the state and none of them has tested positive for the virus. The alarming thing is that two more children under the age of 10 have tested positive with the total number of children affected so far being 33.

The total number of COVID 19 infected persons in Tamil Nadu has increased to 1204 after tests were done on 19,255 people. 28711 are in-home quarantine while 135 are under observation in government facilities and 68519 have completed 28 days quarantine. 12 people have lost their lives and 81 have recovered so far in TN and to sum it all up it sure is an encouraging Tamil New Year Day statistics that hopefully might indicate a downtrend of the curve in the state.
