COVID 19 update - Chennai sees a sharp decline in new cases while rest of TN triples

The official COVID 19 updates today show a sharp decline of new cases in Chennai with 1203 while the past week average was around 1800. The total number of cases in the capital city stands at 71,230. On the other hand the rest of Tamil Nadu has recorded the Triple the number with 3616 new cases and the total so far is 1,18,594. The death toll has risen to 1636 after 65 new deaths today.

On a positive note 4545 patients the highest number till date have been discharged rising up the tally of recoveries to 71,116. The high number of 35,423 persons were tested in the past twenty four hours. Madurai, Virudhunagar and Tiruvallur are the districts with the maximum new cases after Chennai with 334, 253, and 217 respectively.

The Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy today during the press meet stated that the controlling of the coronavirus pandemic is in the hands of the people who have to maintain proper hygiene, wear masks and practice social distancing. He also declared that the government does not have the intention of another lockdown in the future.
