COVID 19 - New cases numbers in Chennai soars to 1322 on first day of full lockdown

The official numbers for the COVID 19 today is once again not encouraging at all as 2115 new cases have been reported in Tamil Nadu with Chennai contributing 1322 of those. There are now 54,449 cases in the state with the capital housing 38,327 of them. The death toll has risen to 666 after 41 people losing their lives in the past twenty four hours.

On a positive note 1630 patients have been discharged taking up the tally of recoveries to an impressive 30,271. An increased number of 25,902 persons were tested today in the state.

1,65,609 samples were tested in Chennai the highest in the state. The least number of tests were done in Perambalur 4351 tests. Tamil Nadu's tests per million stand at 8666 which is a clear double of the national average which is 4657.
