The coronavirus official updates bulletin has once again showed the alarming situation in Tamil Nadu as yet another highest single-day spike of 3940 cases reported today. 1992 of those cases which in other words two thirds of the numbers are in Chenna which now has 53,762 cases out of the state total of 82,275 cases. The death toll now stands at 1079 after 54 persons lost their lives in the past twenty four hours due to the deadly virus.

The highest number of 31,505 persons were tested today and 1443 patients were discharged taking up the total number of recoveries to 45,537 which is well over the fifty percent mark. Chengalpet, Kallakurichi, Madurai and Thiruvannamalai have reported a big spike in numbers after Chennai.
