Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ released last week amidst various obstacles in the country. Even though the film wasn’t released in four states, ‘Padmaavat’ earned Rs.100 crores in the country and Rs.200 crore in worldwide collections. 

Meanwhile in a recent interview, Deepika Padukone has stated that she had no idea of who Queen Padmini was as she wasn’t a student of history. Deepika essays the role of Queen Padmini (Mallika-e- Chittor)in the movie.  She also stated that only after becoming a part of the movie did she read about Queen Padmini following which she transformed herself into the Goddess queen for the much acclaimed role. 

Expressing her gratitude that the film has become successful despite the controversies and issues surrounding it, Deepika says that she isn’t too eager to act once again in a period drama. Well, dont worry as the actress also added that she might take up another period project if it interests her. 

Apart from Deepika Padukone, 'Padmaavat' also has Ranir Singh essaying the role of Allaudin Khilji and Shahid Kappor playing the character of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh.
