Last year superstar Rajinikanth fans got the most memorable treat from their star with the release of Lingaa`. This year around the same time his son-in-law`s much-awaited film will be released. In a way, this will be a treat for Rajini fans too as the film bears the title of their Thalaivar's 1983 super hit film.

Kollywood insiders reveal that Dhanush who has produced and acted in the lead role in the film Thangamagan` directed by Velraj has fixed December 11 as the release date of the film. This will be a day ahead of Thalaivar`s birthday December 12.

Thangamagan` stars Samantha and Amy Jackson as Dhanushs lead heroines while Radhika Sarathkumar, K.S.Ravikumar, Satheesh and others play supporting roles. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music for the film and the audio release is expected soon.

The film is the second outing of the super hit Velai Illa Pattadhari` team and hence it was being referred to as VIP 2`.

Thangam Magan` produced by Dhanush`s Wunderbar Films banner will be released worldwide by Lyca Productions.
