Dictator

Thursday, January 14, 2016 • Telugu Comments

Balakrishna's movie titles have seldom ceased to be the talk of the town.  Right from 'Samarasimha Reddy', 'Sulthan', 'Narasimha Naidu' to 'Legend', 'Lion' and now 'Dictator', all those high-sounding titles gave Balayya's fans an adrenaline rush.  Keeping with the tradition, Balayya has a powerful title for his 99th film, a startling number in itself!

Directed by Sriwaas of 'Lakshyam' and 'Loukhyam' fame, this movie has Balayya playing two characters with distinct shades (reminds one of his films like 'Samarasimha Reddy', doesn't it?).  Anjali and Sonal Chouhan are paired opposite him.

SS Thaman's music has already been received to a fair enough reception.

Being distributed by Eros International, the film has been in news for a variety of reasons, some of which have to do with the politics of cinema and cinewallah politics!  A prestigious venture for all, this one has the script written by Sridhar Seepana (who recently delivered the dud 'Soukhyam').  What more, the film's dialogues are by Kona Venkat and Gopimohan, who are not exactly in form.

Fans are waiting for nothing less than a dictator-takes-all outcomes from their favourite matinee idol.  Apart from the Telugu release, the film's dubbed versions will be released simultaneously in Tamil and Malayalam. Meanwhile, the news is that the film sees Balayya repeating some of the most popular punch lines of his own!  This is fitting for an as rare an occasion as 99th film.

Also starring are Vikramjeet Virk, Nassar, Rati Agnihotri, Suman, and others, it has cinematography by Shyam K Naidu and editing by Gautham Raju.

All in all, after the debacle of 'Lion', will the 'Legend' be the BO's 'muddula' 'Dictator'?  Watch this space..
