Surya Kiran began his career as a child actor and appeared in around 200 films alongside top stars of Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu cinema. He was credited as Master Suresh during his stint as a child actor. Transitioning to directing, he made his mark with the 2003 film 'Satyam,' starring Sumanth Akkineni and Genelia, which garnered him instant fame and success. He followed it up with 'Dhana 51' in 2005, also featuring Sumanth.

His directorial journey continued with films like 'Brahmastram' (2006), 'Raju Bhai' (2007), and 'Chapter 6' (2010). However, personal challenges, including financial difficulties following his divorce from Kalyani, led him to neglect his professional career for a period. Despite this, he recently expressed his intention to return to filmmaking, revealing plans for a project with comedian-actor Saptagiri.
