Speaking at the success event of Oopiri, Darshakaratna Dasari said that it's the best film he had seen in 15 years.

"Akkineni fans are my fans. Akkineni is the oopiri of Telugu film industry. I have not seen a great film like Bommarillu in the last 15 years until Oopiri happened. I had been regretting that we were not making great cinema. We are not competing with Hindi and Malayalam in making good cinema. It takes lot of guts to make a film like Oopiri. With Nag, Karthi and Tamannah, one would have made a commercial movie. But these people have not made one," Dasari said.

The veteran also described Nag as the best actor. "It's not a joke to act through eyes. Nagarjuna has done that. I like his eyes. Nobody ever made proper use of them. Vamshi has used his eyes. Only evolved actors can emote through eyes. If I were to give the Best Actor award, Nag would get it."

Dasari said that only Annapurna Studios could have made a Manam. "It wouldn't have clicked had any other made it. I see the spirit to experiment in Nagarjuna as it was in ANR."
