We are back this Easter weekend with five more flicks hand picked for you to enjoy in different languages and as usual different genres.  Most of these films we are sure will find themselves in you favorites folder.  Here we go.

The Specialist 1994 (English)  - Action Thriller

Sylvestor Stallone and Sharon Stone scorch with their screen presence in this wonderfully crafted action movie directed by Luis Llosa.  Stone plays a melancholic young woman who hires bomb expert Stallone to finish off a dreaded gangster who killed her parents.  The screenplay has many twists and turns and the bombing incidents are ingenious, especially the final one that finishes the don.  James Wood as Stallone’s rival, Eric Roberts as the gangster and Rod Steiger as his father all give impeccable performances.

District 13 : Ultimatum 2009 (French) - Martial Arts Action

The Parkour technique is mostly used by the French military to train personnel to get from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most efficient way possible. Parkour includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, movements as deemed most suitable for the situation.  This film like its prequel has David Belle the son of the founder of Parkour Raymond Belle as the hero and is a non-stop action ride with real stunts that are breathtaking to say the least.

Enough 2002  (English) – Thriller

Jennifer Lopez plays a woman terrorized by her husband (Billy Campbell) from whom she escapes with her child and changes her name and appearance only to realize in horror that he finds her.  The rest of the screenplay deals with how she learns to fight back.  Though the film garnered generally negative reviews on release it is now praised for the acting of the lead players and story telling.

Beautiful 2011 (Malayalam) – Drama

Jayasurya plays a quadriplegic with the most positive attitude and Anoop Menon plays his friend and caregiver and the story is how everything changes with the arrival of a sexy nurse (Meghana Raj).  The film also has thriller elements, but its Jayasurya’s fan performance that keeps you glued to your seats.

Luck By Chance 2009 (Hindi) – Satirical Drama

Farhan Akhtar plays a struggling actor in this gem, wonderfully written and directed by his sister Zoya Akhtar.  The machinations that he employs to get to the top, forgetting love (a brilliant performance by Konkana Sen Sharma) and friendship on the way is what the screenplay is about.  Your moneys worth is in the cast and cameos that include Hrithik Roshan, Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Dimple Kapadia, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, John Abraham and Ranbir Kapoor among others.
