Free Guy - Not only about the video game but it's everything surrounding it!

After all the huff and puff the film finally got released and even later in India. This has certainly tampered with the promotions leaving it "un-noticed" in the minds of people! But it's honestly a movie that you just shouldn't miss and regret later. Ryan Renolds, the man himself said in a promotional campaign that, "If you're wondering if Hollywood is just mimicking Indian Cinema now, the answer is yes! and we have no shame at all". This statement intrigues people and draws attention (at least for me).

The fresh storyline and quirky lines of "Good Guy - Great Guy" hyped the film, but until the time it got released the hype died. They got no one to blame but yet, the film gives us a hilarious ride right from the start and never fails to crack a burst of laughter now & then with amazing references, and roping in real-time gamers was also a smart move. The film featured several world-famous gamers like Pokimane, Jacksepticeye, Lazerbeam, and Ninja.

Free Guy is a story of a guy named "GUY" who wants to be free! It's not as simple as that, but it also involves everything surrounding him. Guy is neither a main character in the film nor is he a user who plays a game, he is all but a Non-Playable Character (NPC) who lives his life in a loop like the ones in GTA where we do whatever we want with the people on the footpath (Run them over with a vehicle or punch them with no reason). But here, the routine for our guy is:

Waking up - Greeting his fish - Buying coffee - His Bank Clerk job - Bank getting hijacked - Submits & gets killed!

Phew! Be it any routine, it does get boring after a certain amount of time. But out of thousands of NPCs, it is only Guy (Ryan Renolds) that gets this whole new definition of life and the want to live life. Why does it happen and how it happens is where the Molotov Girl comes in. Millie Rusk (Jodie Comer) aka Molotov Girl (Gaming name) is a bold woman who with her best friend Keys (Joe Keery) coded a game "Free City" together where you can explore the world in whichever and however way you want. All this is ruined when Antwan (Taika Waititi) comes in and snatches their years of hard work and makes it his game and earns millions from it.

The mission is simple! Find a place or a location within the game to prove to the world that it's a stolen piece of art. The moment Guy sees Molotov girl, he loses his head over heels, and right at this moment, I felt that it was somewhat like the Matrix! Just like how when Neo chose the blue pill over the red pill and his life became different and better, here all that happens when the Guy sees Millie.

This movie makes us fall in love with an AI character and Ryan puts in one heck of a performance. However, my favorite moment is when the Dude comes in! Well, I don't wanna ruin or have any more spoilers. You shouldn't miss out on this visual marvel in theatres. This out and out commercial will win your hearts and even if there's logical tension here and there, the screenplay overpowers it with some amazing acting from every single character out there.

Verdict: Go for this feel-good blockbuster (whilst in theatres)

Rating: 3.5/5
