Stand-up star Jo Koy takes the stage for the 81st Golden Globes, marking a first for the comedian and a new chapter for the prestigious awards.

"It's a dream come true to host the Golden Globes," says Koy, 52, known for his film "Easter Sunday" and his memoir "Mixed Plate."

Koy's debut comes as the Golden Globes kick off Hollywood's 2024 awards season, celebrating the best in film and television. "Barbenheimer" leads the pack with nominations for "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer," while "Succession" snags nine nods for its final season.

Cedric "The Entertainer" and Wilmer Valderrama unveiled the nominees in 27 categories, streamed live on CBSNews.com and "CBS Mornings."

Mark your calendars: the Golden Globes air Sunday, Jan. 7, from 8-11 p.m. ET on CBS, Paramount+, and the CBS app. This marks a new partnership with CBS after years on NBC, and follows a period of rebuilding for the awards show.

The Globes faced boycotts and accusations of ethical lapses within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the former organizing body. Under new leadership, the awards aim for a fresh start with Koy at the helm.

Tune in for a night of laughs, glitz, and Hollywood's finest, as Jo Koy brings a new energy to the Golden Globes stage.
