Govt. which doesn’t respect the poor’s protest would fall: Kamal Haasan

Actor-politician and convener of ‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ Kamal Haasan has tweeted on his Twitter account stating that the (AIADMK-led) Govt. in Tamil Nadu, which doesn’t pay heed to the requests and protests of the poor, is doomed to fall at any moment.

Kamal Haasan was in Tuticorin yesterday to express his solidarity with the people of the District who have been protesting for the past seven weeks against the Sterlite Industries in view of the environment and ecological imbalances caused by the plant.  Kamal and his ‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ functionaries visited Kumarareddiyapuram Village, the hub of the protest, where Kamal addressed the protesters.

Later, speaking to newsmen, Kamal explained the hazards in allowing the Sterlite Industries to function in the District.  “I shall always be supportive of the people’s protest,” he assured the locals and got up on his Twitter account later to post his tweets on the Government’s non-caring attitude towards the protesting people.

“Anyone who sits at the shadows of the neem trees at Kumarareddiyapuram Village would surely get wisdom about the needs of the people. I heard the wailings and cries of helpless mothers; a Government which doesn’t pay heed to such cries and respond appropriately is sure to meet its own doom very soon,” Kamal tweeted thus.
