First actress to stand up against Periyar statue demolition

While BJP National Secretary H raja’s comments about demolishing Periyar statues have earned the condemnation of the masses, only a few like GV Prakash, Sathyaraj from the film fraternity have expressed their discontent. Similarly, here’s the first actress to stand up for the issue.

Known for her performances in films like Sasikumar’s ‘Kidaari’ and ‘Vetrivel’, actress Nikhila Vimal has registered her stand against Raja’s insensitive remarks about how Periyar’s statues in TN must be demolished. Raja had also mentioned that Periyar was a caste extremist in his post which he later deleted. Nikhila also had shared the incidence in Tirupattur where those who demolished Periyar staue were tied and beaten up.
