It has been evidenced by anecdotes and empirical studies that Covid-like symptoms have been on the rise across India. The other day, a government body validated the experience and studies and noted that H3N2 influenza is causing stubborn cough, cold and fever-like symptoms.

Doctors, in this regard, are advising patients not to opt for antibiotics indiscriminately. Even if flu-like symptoms persist for weeks, antibiotics have to be avoided at all costs. "Viral infection H3N2 doesn’t need antibiotics…Symptoms are High-grade Fever, Sore throat, Cough, Nausea, vomiting.. Fever remains for 72 hours….Take rest and receive symptomatic treatment only," says Dr. Showkat Shah.

Both infected and non-infected ones have been advised to wear face masks like they used to in 2020 and 2021. "Due to the increase in flu cases, please continue to wear masks in public places like hospitals, metro, etc. where the chances of spread of infection are high! Once infected your productivity for a week (at least) is decreased unnecessarily," writes Dr. Anuj.

In short, avoiding antibiotics and embracing face masks have to be followed strictly.
