A number of Hollywood celebrities went naked in a new public service announcement (PSA), set up by an organization called RepresentUs, to warn voters of "naked" ballots ahead of the US presidential elections scheduled to happen on November 3 this year.

The list of celebrities who participated in the campaign includes Tiffany Haddish, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Naomi Campbell, Mark Ruffalo, Sarah Silverman and Sacha Baron Cohen. Laws in 16 states in the United States require voters to insert their mail-in ballots into two separate envelopes in order to be counted. The court reportedly said that the officials needed to throw away mail-in ballots submitted without a secrecy envelope, which is also commonly called "naked ballots." The ruling was apparently in favour of the Trump campaign, which earlier argued in a court filing that naked ballots "should be discarded to ensure the secrecy of absentee and mail-in ballots and to prevent fraud." Sarah Silverman is heard saying saying in the video, "If you don't do exactly as I tell you, then your ballot could get thrown out." Meanwhile, Chelsea Handler says, "Naked ballots - you don't want one of those!" Bethany Hallam, a Democratic councilwoman, stripped down naked along with two other female politicians last week in their own awareness campaign. "Immediately when I heard the term naked ballots, and being a woman in the male-dominated environment of politics, where they are always trying to control our bodies, I thought, 'Why not take some control back? And also get the voters' attention," Hallam reportedly said.

Claiming that this was not a partisan issue and that it affects all people who are planning to vote by mail, RepresentUS co-founder and CEO Josh Silver mentioned in a statement, "We're grateful to this committed and talented group for making an eye-catching video so that everyone understands what they need to do to ensure their vote is counted."
