In this exclusive interview to IndiaGlitz, Guntur Talkies actor-writer Siddu talkes about his background, his association with Praveen Sattaru, doing the hot number with Rashmi Gautam, and more.

Tell us about your background and how films happened to you.

My mother used to work in AIR`s music department. Because of her influence, I too got interested in music. But I never thought of getting into movies. I got introduced to director Tathineni Sathya through a friend. He showed me the Tamil version of Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu and asked me if I would reprise the villain`s role. Next, I played Genelia`s boy friend in Orange. I did a Tamil film later. I did Praveen Sattaru`s LBW. Now, Guntur Talkies.

What is your character in Guntur Talkies?

I`m playing a youngster in a slum. Working in a medical shop, I live the life of a petty thief. In short, this film is the story of two rascals. A change comes in such lives. The film is about what is that change.

What is the title justification?

The backdrop is Guntur`s. Since the events in the characters` lives is cinematic, we have chosen the title.

Since you have knowledge of music, did you contribute to the film`s songs in any way?

I have sung a song. I have written a song. I have written the story and dialogues as well. Coming to the music, I have worked with the music director for RR.

How did Guntur Talkies take birth?

I have known Praveen Sattaru very well from the days of LBW. He wanted to do a mass movie after Chandamama Kathalu. At that time, I wrote this simple, happy-go-lucky story. And Praveen liked it.

Did you feel uncomfortable while doing the bold number with Rashmi Gautam?

When Praveen said that he had planned a hot number with us, I said I can`t do. He then cancelled the number altogether. When I told this to my mother, she told me that an artist should be ready to do anything and that if I felt uneasy, I should first start moving freely with Rashmi. I hadn`t expected such an answer from my mother. On her advice, I started doing friendship with Rashmi. I did not find anything vulgar in the song.

What about other characters?

Shraddha Das is playing a lady don named Revolver Rani. Mahesh Manjrekar has a crucial role. I learnt a lot from him while working. In the same way, I learnt a lot from Naresh garu, Raghu Babu and others.

Is there any message in the film?

There is no message as such. It`s a film that can be watched with ones friends and come out of the theatre happily. It has a refreshing feel.
