I knew Maharshi would become Pokiri Square: Mahesh Babu

The success meet of 'Maharshi' was held on Saturday evening at Siddhartha College in Vijayawada. Mahesh Babu was in his elements when he started giving his speech.

"Today, I have heard the best compliment in my life. Someone was saying that mentioning my name before surgery would bring a smile on the face of the patient (kid)," he said.

"It feels great to hold this event after having a darshan of Kanaka Durgamma. I always knew that 'Maharshi' would be a big hit. I told my unit members right when the Dehradun schedule started that it would become Pokiri Square. Playing the student's role gave me so much kick. I will always be indebted to those who have made the film possible," Mahesh said amid the loud cheers of his fans.

After thanking Allari Naresh, Pooja Hegde and other actors, the superstar had a special mention about Guruswamy, the old man who is seen as a farmer in the movie. "The other day, I raised my folded hands to thank him," he said.

"Hats off to my fans and the audience who have given me this huge blockbuster. The collections of my previous highest hit were crossed by 'Maharshi' in just one week," he added.

Mahesh got nostalgic about 'Rajakumarudu' and its director. "I thank 'mamayya' Raghavendra Rao garu. When I was doing 'Rajakumarudu', I had no clue how to walk, how to act. Even after the film released, I didn't understand the film. But he told me my film will become a big hit and I will become a superstar one day," he revealed.
