IDBI has given a loan of Rs 8.50 crores for the film. IDBI sources said that they were willing to finance film projects and the base level was Rs 4 crores. This base level often scared producers since they had to bring in records to show that they were in sound shape. Oscar films is in bad shape after a string of flops including Jay Jay the Madhavan starrer. Shankar's status as a hit filmmaker took a beating with Boys and Vikram after Arul's flop is on low ebb. IDBI probably banks on Shankar - Vikram combo to do the trick
