Veteran Tollywood star Nandamuri Balakrishna's landmark 100th film will be a grand period flick titled as 'Gautamiputra Satakarni'. Balayya will play the titular role of Gautamiputra Satakarni, who ruled the Satavahana kingdom of Deccan region in 2nd century AD.

Shriya Saran plays the female lead in this film to be directed by Krish of 'Vaanam' fame. Veteran Bollywood actress Hema Malini plays the role of Balakrishna's mother while Gauthami has been roped in to play another important female character.

Now it seems the landmark film's technical crew has underwent an important change. Isaignani Ilaiyaraja has replaced Devi Sri Prasad who was initially roped into do the musical score for the film.

Sources reveal that DSP could not deliver the songs for the film at the speed level expected by Krish and the duo have parted ways with mutual understanding to team up later. Hence Ilaiyaraja who has given super hit songs and fantastic background score for many historical flicks including Balakrishna's memorable mythological film 'Sri Ramarajyam' has been approached to do the musical score for this film and the maestro is likely to sign on the dotted lines.

We will have to wait for an official announcement in this regard.

'Gautamiputra Satakarni' is scheduled to hit the screens as a Pongal/Sankaranti treat on January 12, 2017.
