India's first gold at the Commonwealth games!

Indias first gold at the Commonwealth games!

After Gururaja  Poojary’s silver medal in the men’s weightlifiting event in the 21st edition of the Commonwealth games, India has gotten its first gold medal. Mirabai Chanu competed in the 48 kg category to win the gold in the Women’s weightlifting event. 

Not only that she went on to create a CWG record as well lifting 196 kgs in the snatch and clean and jerk combined. In snatch, Mirabai lifted 80, 84 and 86 kgs respectively while in clean and jerk she lifted 103, 107 and 114 to create the Commonwealth and Commonwelath games record.
