Suriya's Jai Bhim courted controversy as Vanniyar Sangam sent a legal notice to the actor for tarnishing the reputation of the Vanniyar community. While many of his fans and the member of the film fraternity expressed solidarity with the team of Jai Bhim the child artist who played 'Alli' has shared fierceful videos in support of the actor.

After Suriya faced several threats over the Jai Bhim movie controversy, armed police were placed at his residence. Many of his fans expressed their support to Suriya on social media. In a new Twitter post on November 17, the actor wrote, "Dear all, this love for #Jaibhim is overwhelming. I’ve never witnessed this before! Can’t express in words how thankful I am for the trust & reassurance you all have given us. Heartfelt thanks for standing by us (sic)."

In the video, Joshika who played Alli in the film also said that the film 'Jai Bhim' was made for the benefit of the tribal and oppressed community. She also added that Surya Uncle's aim was to make everything available to everyone. This video of baby star Josika is currently going viral.

Suriya's Jai Bhim was released on Amazon Prime Video on November 2. The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is about the custodial torture inflicted on the members of the Irular community. Initially, Hindi-speaking people had a problem with a scene where Prakash Raj can be seen slapping a man for speaking in Hindi. Now, members of the Vanniyar community claim that the film tarnishes their image. Vanniyar Sangam sent a legal notice to Suriya, Jyotika, director TJ Gnanavel and Amazon Prime Video for tarnishing the reputation of the Vanniyar community.
