Jaya probe panel dismisses Sasikala’s request for time to file affidavits

The Justice Arumuga Swamy Commision of Inquiry, which is probing the mysterious circumstances which led to former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa’s demise on 05th December 2016, has dismissed Sasikala’s (former aide of former chief-minister) plea to extend time to file affidavits with the Commission in response to the voluminous documents provided to her based on her request.

The panel also accused Sasikala of playing hide-and-seek by not coming forward to provide details of treatment meted out to Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospital during her 75-day long stay.

The COI says that as Sasikala was always a ‘shadow’ of the former chief-minister, she knew everything which occurred from the moment Jayalalithaa fell ill till she breathed her last. Sasikala, who is cooling her heels at the Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bangalore serving a 4-year rigorous imprisonment term in the assets case, had earlier sought extension many times to reply.

Sources at the COI said that the Justice might even decide to visit the prison to personally inquire Sasikala and get her testimony.
