'Kaala', directed by Pa. Ranjith, is a rainbow of failures. Despite encouraging reviews (film critics have been much more positive about the film than they were about 'Kabali'), the Rajinikanth-starrer has been a box-office disgrace in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The film's theatrical release rights (Telugu version) were allegedly bought by different stakeholders for Rs. 29 crores or thereabouts. And its lifetime share is not expected to go beyond Rs. 8 crores (that too if the distributors are lucky).

As of the end of its fourth day, Kaala's share in the Telugu States is an abysmal Rs. 6.40 crores.

This time around, the verdict of the audience is at odds with that of most of the critics out there.
