Today is the birthday of young and promising director Pa.Ranjith who has proved to be one of the highly admired among the new generation directors emerged this decade.

Ranjith is an alumnus of Fine Arts College in Chennai. Later he worked as an Assistant director under Venkat Prabhu and made his directorial debut with 'Attakathi'. The film which was a super hit served as a fitting launch pad for its lead actors Dinesh, Nandita and music director Santhosh Narayanan who would go on to make a mark in their respective fields.

His debut film apart from being a commercial hit was appreciated for its novel content which captures the life style of lower middle class people living in the suburbs of Chennai and also giving a novel perspective of adolescent and youth love life.

His second film 'Madras' turned out to be a big break for its lead actor Karthi and also made Ranjith as a director to look out for. The film broke the stereotypes cast by other films made on the people of North Chennai. It captured multi-coloured life style of North Chennai residents mainly the downtrodden workers and how they are being exploited by politicians and caste organisations.

The success of 'Madras' landed him the golden opportunity of directing Superstar Rajinikanth in 'Kabali'. This film despite getting mixed reviews turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of the year. The film was also praised for giving prominence to the much loved actor than the mass hero in Rajinikanth. It indeed offered a 'Unique Rajinikanth Experience' for his fans as well as movie buffs of the current generation.

Rajini was highly impressed with the working style of Ranjith and the outcome of 'Kabali', the fact revealed by his teaming up again with the young director for his next after '2.'. This film will be produced by Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush. Ranjith is currently working on the script of the film.

With 'Kabali' Ranjith could have gone for bigger technicians. But he made sure that along with him his team of technicians also get the dream of working with Rajinikanth fulfilled. This is indeed an admirable trait.

Apart from being a filmmaker Ranjith possess the unique boldness and straightforwardness in espousing the cause of the people oppressed by caste discrimination. His deep understanding of politics backed by voracious reading is something inspirational to many of the youngsters of this generation.

We hope the future films of Ranjith will continue to raise the much needed voice against the oppression in all forms.

IndiaGlitz wishes Pa.Ranjith a Happy Birthday and many more successes and achievements in film industry.
