In the Bigg Boss Reality show, the contestants were asked to imitate mentally ill patients and also behave like the inmates of a mental care home as part of a task assigned to them. This was strongly criticized by Psychiatrists and activists working towards the betterment of the way society handles such patients. Many demanded that Kamal Haasan the anchor of the show, should apologise for what has happened and he should also ensure that such insensitive behavior is not allowed in the show.

In the episode aired on Saturday, Kamal Haasan held the moral high ground by apologizing for such poor depiction of people with mental instability. He also said he will have to quit the program if something like this is repeated again. .

"I am indebted to apologize for a mistake I have not committed. Whatever I speak here in this platform is spontaneous. But the things happening throughout the week, the tasks given to the house inmates etc are not being arranged by me. But that does not mean I am distancing myself. I am also connected to this program. The way the contestants imitated people who are mental health is slightly disturbed is distasteful and I am angry about that. You may say that I have acted in films that depict mentally unstable characters. But in my films such character will not be a comedian. He will be the hero. Having said all these, I plead (to the organizers) that such things should not happen again. If anything like this happens again, This program is not important for me. Everyone of us have a social responsibility. "

Only after making this loud and clear, the actor started anchoring the day's episode.
