Kamal Haasan has appreciated the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board for denying renewal to Sterlite stating "Congrats, Tamilnadu pollution control board. The non renewal of Consent to Operate for existing plant of Sterlite is a step in the right direction but we have miles to go. The people of Tamizh Nadu have joined you in maintaining vigil.".

Kamal Haasan had earlier criticised the TNPCB for the same issue on 3rd March "Evidence of yet another state body not doing it's job. Cauvery Delta watch has unearthed shocking breach of people's trust by TN's pollution control board. Please wake up TNPCB".  It is good to see a politician running down a government department when it errs and at the same time appreciating a correct decision.
